2009 Update:

 

If your current home is meeting your needs and there are no reasons compelling you to make a change, many home owners will hunker down and ride out the current storm.  Real estate is a long term investment.  If you are not selling, don't be overly concerned about fluctuations in the market.

 

Short Sale Possibilities: Zillow reports that 1 in 7 American homeowners have negative home equity.  If you need to sell your home due to a hardship, you may be a candidate for a Short Sale.
